Australian Mathematics Competition
On Wednesday 7th August, our senior school mathematicians competed in the Australian Mathematics Trust’s Australian Mathematics Competition. The AMC is an engaging 30-problem competition that demonstrates the importance and relevance of mathematics in students’ everyday lives.
Schools from all over the world enter their top mathematicians in this competition and St Greg’s has achieved some great results this year.
Ethan Kenney achieved the school’s best result, earning a Distinction Award by placing in the top 500 out of 20,000 entrants in the year 10 division.

Australian Mathematics Trust's Intermediate Olympiad
On Thursday 12th September, three of our best mathematicians competed in the Australian Mathematics Trusts’ Australian Intermediate Maths Olympiad.
This is a highly challenging four hour competition pitched at year 10 students. Only around 2000 students around Australia attempt this competition each year. The AIMO contains unique problems designed by leading educators and academics to challenge and assess students’ problem-solving skills.
The St Greg’s students who competed in this competition were Ethan Kenney and Mitchell Williams of year 10 and Lachlan Selby of Year 9.
Ethan Kenney achieved a Credit Award in the Competition, and all three young men are to be congratulated on their efforts.
