A word you often hear at St Greg’s is busy, and it’s true – we are busy! But a part of this busyness, this organisation of events and gatherings which takes up the time of so many staff and students, is the opportunity to stop and think about how blessed we are to be in a faith filled community, and to express gratitude for our extended St Greg’s family. Recently we celebrated the Feast of our Founder, St Marcellin Champagnat with a wonderful Mass and joyous time announcing our award winners for 2024.

Congratulations once again to all of our student Champagnat Award winners.
Grandparents Day.
Just this week we celebrated our Year 7 grandparents and the important role they play in developing the minds and hearts of our young men. Year 8 led a prayer liturgy for our Vintage Old Boys and their wives, giving thanks for the contribution they have made to the College, their local communities and to our country. We asked them for their continued support of the current students through their prayers. Year 10 and their families celebrated the Homecoming, the final step of The Rite Journey, and made their pledge to live according to the 7 virtues they have chosen as relevant for them.
From the Grandparents’ Day liturgy:
God our Father, we thank you for our grandparents. Thank you for the richness that our Grandparents add to our lives and for the wisdom and the support they offer to each one of us. Thank you for their laughter, their kindness and their patience. Grandparents make us glad to be together. Our prayer today is a reminder that through their unconditional love, our grandparents witness to us the love of Jesus.
From the Vintage Old Boys’ Liturgy:
The boy that sows of happiness and truth
Will reap in manhood what he sowed in youth.
Who sows in love will have the world for friend.
Who sows in virtue reaps the bliss of God.
From the Homecoming:
All coming to Jesus has the feeling of homecoming upon it.
Immersion:
As this newsletter is published, 14 students and 4 staff set off on immersion to Fiji and Timor Leste, to spend time in the Marist communities of Suva and Quelicai.
At St Greg’s we are busy, but these times of prayer, reflection, gratitude and service are important if we are true to our mission of making Jesus Christ known and loved, and developing strong minds and gentle hearts in all members of our community.
