For the first time in many years, Dairy calves have returned to the St Greg’s farm! The Year 10 Agriculture classes, as part of their assessment task, participated in the Cows Create Careers program. The students had two Jersey calves, kindly lent to us by Dr John Quin at Orana Jersey Stud, to care for, over a three-week period. The students were responsible for before-school feeding and general care of the calves. We also had Mrs Fiona Perich, from Leppington Pastoral Company. come and talk to the boys about all things dairy.
The stud and flock ewes have started lambing and the students are enjoying caring for the lambs, particularly the two poddies. The lambs made a special appearance at the Year 5 Taster Day and Grandparents' Day. Lots of cuddles and smiles were had.
