The 17th Annual Marshall Rogers Golf Day was a resounding success, bringing together the St Gregory's College community for a day of fun, camaraderie, and friendly competition. The event saw students, parents, alumni, and staff teeing off at the picturesque local Camden Lakeside golf course.
The day started with a warm welcome from the College Foundation, followed by a hearty breakfast that set the tone for the day. Golfers of all skill levels participated, from seasoned players to enthusiastic beginners, all united by their love for the game and their support for the college.
Highlights of the day included impressive drives & a few skillful putts. The atmosphere was electric, with laughter and friendly banter echoing across the greens. Participants also enjoyed various raffles and auctions, adding an extra layer of excitement to the event.
The event concluded with a delightful awards ceremony, where top performers were recognized for their outstanding play. Special mentions were given to the longest drive, closest to the pin and 1st place, adding a fun twist to the competitive spirit.
Beyond the golf, the day was a fantastic opportunity for the St Greg’s community to come together, strengthen bonds, and create lasting memories. The funds raised from the event will go towards supporting those students who wish to continue their schooling, but whose families may not have the means to make that happen, ensuring that the spirit of giving and community continues to thrive.
The Marshall Rogers Foundation Scholarship was established in 2007 after Marshall passed away suddenly on 13 September at the age of 50 leaving a young family still in school.
Marshall, was an avid Wests Magpies and Wests Tigers supporter, with his passion stemming from his playing days at Wests, under the guidance of Warren Ryan and Roy Masters.
He went on to coach at the Wests Magpies for a number of years, leading the Harold Matthews, S.G Ball and Jersey Flegg sides.
Marshall coached many elite players during this time including Brett Hodgson, Eric Grothe Jnr and his nephew, Wests Tigers and Australian centre, Chris Lawrence.
He was a caring man who was devoted to the needs of the young men he was coaching, and above all else, always ensured they were having fun.
The Rogers family wish to keep his legacy alive by supporting young men through their senior schooling at St. Gregory’s College, Campbelltown and we thank Trish Rogers and her children Ben and Lyndal on their continuing efforts towards enriching the lives of others and the wider St Greg’s community.
Another big thank you to all the participants, sponsors, and volunteers who made the 17th Annual Marshall Rogers Golf Day a memorable and successful event. We look forward to seeing everyone again next year for another round of great golf and community!
