Year 11 Students Attend Bstreetsmart

On Wednesday 12 August, Year 11 students attended bstreetsmart at Afterpay Arena, Sydney Olympic Park. bstreetsmart is Australia’s largest youth road safety education event, designed to encourage young people to make safer decisions as drivers and passengers and help reduce road trauma.

Students were given a powerful and realistic insight into the consequences of unsafe driving. The program included a live crash re-enactment involving emergency services, survivor stories and presentations highlighting the dangers of speeding, distraction, drink and drug driving, and other risky behaviours.

The experience provided an important opportunity for students to reflect on their responsibilities as drivers and passengers. The confronting presentation reinforced that decisions made on the road can have lifelong consequences, while also highlighting the importance of looking out for friends and making safe choices.

Overall, the day provided an engaging and thought-provoking road safety education experience, giving students valuable lessons that extend beyond the classroom and encouraging them to make responsible decisions whenever they are behind the wheel or travelling with others.
